Job Description:
The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council (FHQTC) Health Services is a dynamic innovative health organization that provides a range of programs and services to 11 First Nations throughout Southern Saskatchewan within the Treaty Four Territory. The Nurse Practitioner will work as part of the Miko-Mahikan “Red Wolf” Harm Reduction Team to encompass a variety of initiatives that include harm reduction strategies, HIV/HCV, opiate use disorder, and will work within a harm reduction and rights-based philosophy.
Under the direction of the Miko-Mahikan “Red Wolf” Harm Reduction Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and community health services to clients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner provides outreach services to the communities of the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.

Education
Graduate of approved school of Nursing
Master’s degree in nursing.
Licenses
Current registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Nurse Practitioners
Other Education and Training
Current certification in First Aide/CPR level C
Nursing experience in acute or home care
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work within First Nations Traditional and Spiritual Institutes.
Ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, public health, or acute care.
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and to work in a multidisciplinary team based working environment.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills (verbal and written).
Other Information
Demonstrated knowledge, respect, and understanding of First Nations culture and traditions.
