Terms of use

Effective 13 September 2026. These are the terms for using Firsthand (firsthandcareers.com), run by the operator of Firsthand. Using the site means you accept them; they are short.

What the site is

Firsthand is a search engine for jobs. It reads employers' own careers pages and shows what they publish, with a link to the employer for every role. We are not the employer, we do not take applications, and applying always happens on the employer's own site under the employer's terms.

Accuracy

We show postings as employers publish them and check daily that they are still up, but a role can close between two checks, and an employer's text is the employer's. A pay figure marked as stated in the posting is the employer's own figure. A pay figure marked (est) is an estimate we generate — from other postings and, where those are thin, from a model — and it is not the employer's figure, not an offer, and not something to rely on in a negotiation. If you are the employer and an estimate is wrong, the role page has a button to say so.

Your account

An account is an email address and a code; keep the code to yourself. Saved searches and alerts are for your own job search. You can delete the account at any time from the Account menu, and we can close an account that is used to abuse the site or other people.

Fair use

You may use the site to look for work, and to link to any page of it. You may not scrape it at a rate that harms it, resell its data, or use it to send unsolicited mail. Our own crawler follows the rules we ask of others: it identifies itself and honours robots.txt (/bot).

Liability

The site is provided as it is. We take care with it, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, current or error-free, and we are not liable for a decision made on it or for anything on an employer's site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
