Research Assistant (Full-Time) (26270150)

Responsibilities:

The appointee will assist with:

• Organising and conducting research studies involving virtual reality, immersive technologies, accessibility, and interactive media;
• Supporting co-design workshops, interviews, focus groups, and user studies;
• Assisting with participant recruitment and communication with community organisations and stakeholders;
• Supporting collaborations with blind and low-vision communities and accessibility organisations in Hong Kong;
• Collecting, organising, and analysing qualitative and quantitative research data;
• Conducting literature reviews, systematic reviews, and research documentation;
• Assisting with ethics applications, project administration, reporting, and project coordination;
• Supporting prototype development, testing, and evaluation of immersive experiences and accessibility-focused technologies; and
• Maintaining project datasets, research records, and study documentation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Interactive Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, Game Design, Psychology, Computer Science, Digital Media, Cognitive Science, Communication, or a related discipline;
• Strong spoken and written English;
• Strong spoken and written Chinese;
• Excellent communication and organisational skills;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary research projects; and
• Interest in accessibility, immersive technologies, design research, virtual reality, user experience, and inclusive design.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

• Cantonese proficiency;
• Experience conducting interviews, workshops, co-design activities, focus groups, or user studies;
• Experience working with community organisations, accessibility projects, or special-needs populations;
• Experience in UX research, interaction design, service design, or human-centred design;
• Familiarity with qualitative coding, thematic analysis, or research software;
• Experience conducting literature reviews, systematic reviews, or abstract screening;
• Experience with Unity, VR/XR development, interactive media production, or digital prototyping;
• Familiarity with tools such as Figma, GitHub, Adobe Creative Suite, or related software; and
• Interest in accessibility technologies, spatial audio, immersive learning, or assistive technologies.

The initial appointment will be offered on a temporary basis or fixed-term contract of one year. Re-appointment is available and subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
