Biotherapeutics Process Development (BPD) is a global organization for process development and biologics manufacturing with sites in Japan and the United States. Downstream Process Development (DSP) is responsible for developing purification processes for biologics across all stages of development, which includes process development at lab-scale, scale-up from lab-scale to manufacturing scale, drug substance manufacturing for clinical supply, and regulatory submission. As biologics evolve day by day, we are looking for people who are passionate about new technologies and innovative challenges. DSP Japan is located in Shohan iPark and collaborates closely with colleagues in Boston for biotherapeutics development globally.

職務内容
The Associate Scientist, Downstream Process Development (DSP) Japan, provides scientific and technical expertise in the development, optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer of purification processes for biotherapeutic products. You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including Analytical Development, Drug Product Development, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure the successful advancement of biologics programs from early-stage development through manufacturing and regulatory submission. This role requires close collaboration with DSP teams in the United States to harmonize platform processes, scientific strategies, and operational practices. In addition, you will work closely with Digital and Automation teams to advance high-throughput experimentation, automated data workflows and reporting, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision making to accelerate process development and enhance manufacturing readiness.

How you will contribute:
Provide scientific and technical expertise in the downstream process development activities across biologics programs.
Develop robust, high-yield, scalable purification processes utilizing chromatography, filtration, and other downstream processing technologies to support clinical and commercial development programs.
Design and execute laboratory studies to support process understanding, process characterization, troubleshooting, and development of control strategies.
Support technology transfer, scale-up, and pilot-scale/GMP manufacturing campaigns by providing technical expertise, on-floor process support, and close collaboration with manufacturing sites and cross-functional partners to ensure successful process implementation and process performance.
Prepare and review technical documents, including development reports, technology transfer packages, regulatory submissions, and manufacturing support documentation.
Collaborate with global DSP teams to harmonize platform processes, scientific approaches, and best practices across development programs.
Serve as a downstream process representative on global project teams and contribute to the project decisions that advance biologics programs.
Support investigations, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to address process-related manufacturing challenges.
Champion the evaluation and adoption of digital tools, automation technologies, and advanced data analytics to improve productivity, enhance knowledge management, and accelerate development timelines.
Foster innovation through collaboration with internal and external partners and contribute to the development of next-generation downstream processing technologies.
主な業務内容：
バイオ医薬品プログラムにおける精製プロセスの開発・最適化を推進します。
クロマトグラフィーおよびろ過技術を用いて、堅牢で高回収率、スケールアップ可能な遺伝子組み換えタンパク質の精製プロセスを開発します。
プロセス理解の向上、プロセス特性解析、トラブルシューティング、および管理戦略構築を目的とした実験の設計・実施を行います。
製造部門および部門横断チームと連携し、技術移管、スケールアップ、パイロットスケールおよびGMP製造キャンペーンを支援します。
開発報告書、技術移管関連文書、承認申請資料、製造支援文書などの技術文書の作成およびレビューを行います。
グローバルDSPチームと連携し、プラットフォームプロセス、プロセス開発戦略、およびベストプラクティスの継続的な改善と発展に貢献します。
バイオ医薬品パイプラインの推進に向け、グローバルプロジェクトチームにおいてDSPの代表として参画します。
製造におけるプロセス課題に対し、調査、原因解析、および継続的改善活動を通じて解決を支援します。
デジタルツール、自動化技術、および高度なデータ解析技術の評価・導入を推進し、生産性向上、ナレッジマネジメント強化、および開発期間短縮に貢献します。
社内外のパートナーと連携し、次世代の精製プロセス技術開発を推進します。
応募要件
＜学歴・実務経験＞
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 0-3 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience in downstream process development for biologics, including chromatography, filtration, process characterization, scale-up, and technology transfer.
Hands-on experience with automated chromatography systems such as ÄKTA or equivalent platforms.
Strong understanding of biologics manufacturing, cGMP requirements, and regulatory expectations throughout product development and commercialization.
Ability to design scientific studies, analyze complex datasets, and apply sound scientific judgment to solve technical challenges.

バイオ医薬品製造、cGMP要件、および製品開発から商業化までの規制要件に関する理解
