The Hyperbaric Chamber Technician performs job functions under the direct supervision of the Hyperbaric Technical & Safety Director and is responsive to the Ambulatory Nurse Manager and Hyperbaric Physician, as appropriate. Operates and maintains monoplace chambers, as well as the associated systems and equipment required for clinical and research applications of hyperbaric medicine: daily operational safety oversight; assists hyperbaric nursing staff in the delivery of patient care appropriate to the level of medical training; facilitates safe patient handling and movement with cart and chair transfers; assists with activities required of the preparation of patients, treatment initiation, and egress; facilitates the hyperbaric pre-treatment safety briefing; provides for the safety and comfort of patients receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy; observes a schedule of call coverage responsive to the urgent and emergent need of patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy
