Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage mental health disorders in elderly patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including cognitive and functional assessments.
  • Manage patients with dementia, delirium, depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other age-related psychiatric conditions.
  • Provide consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams regarding the psychiatric care of older adults.
  • Participate in family meetings and provide guidance to caregivers regarding treatment plans and ongoing care.
  • Collaborate with geriatric medicine, neurology, internal medicine, rehabilitation, and community healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and allied healthcare professionals where applicable.
  • Contribute to clinical research, education, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • in Abu Dhabi.
  • Existing DOH License as Consultant Psychiatrist is preferred.
 
Position Summary SEHA Sakina is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Geriatric (Old Age) Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing psychiatric disorders affecting older adults, including dementia-related behavioral conditions, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and other complex mental health disorders associated with ageing. The Consultant will work collaboratively with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care and support the development of specialized geriatric mental health services.
