Position Overview: This is the second level of the Technical Specialist classification. Provide technical expertise and judgment in the application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to a technical field of specialization (i.e., biology, GIS, environmental science, etc) with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their area of expertise, and the ability to work with greater independence.
Duties & Responsibilities
Under some supervision, in the area of expertise will provide
independent technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of more complex technical problems
assistance in training less experienced technical specialists
effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
complete and accurate highly technical documents such as summary reports, correspondence, specifications, procedures, and statistical analyses
continuous improvement of job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance
effective oral and written communication skills
maintain accurate records and files
support of the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Requirements
Associate’s Degree in area of expertise with 2 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree (MS); or 5 years of relevant technical experience
