Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs routine cooking in the large production of meals at Suffolk County correctional facilities. Supervision is exercised over a number of inmates. Assignments follow set departmental policies and procedures, and menus are prepared by the Jail Head Cook.Performs institutional cooking for inmates two weeks
Prepares and cooks food for a large number of correction personnel for two weeks.
Must maintain security clearance to work in the Jail
Oversees the inmates in preparing food
IMPORTANT: This position has a rotating schedule encompassing 5 Days On, 3 Days Off, 5 Days On, 2 Days Off and will work Holidays
The target salary for this position is $48,735

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) months of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale.
