The Accounting Manager is a key finance leader within SFMS, responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong control environment, and supporting operational and business performance across the site. This role oversees all aspects of general accounting, month-end close, inventory and cost accounting activities, and compliance with corporate policies and GAAP.

The Accounting Manager partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and Corporate Finance to drive financial accuracy, improve business processes, support working capital initiatives, and provide actionable insights that support SFMS business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all site accounting activities, including general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and AMETEK policies.
• Oversee reserve analyses, capital expenditure accounting, and fixed asset management.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances monthly in tight partnership with FP&A
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal audit & corporate policies.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation and remediation of control findings.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items monthly.
• Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, annual operating plans, and financial analysis. Responsible for overseeing the AR department
• Drive process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve data quality.
• Partner with Corporate Finance, Shared Services, and other AMETEK business units to ensure consistency in accounting practices and reporting.
• Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Prior experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Demonstrated resolution on technical accounting issues
• Manufacturing environment experience required.
• Aerospace and Defense industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and fixed assets preferred.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with SOX compliance and audit support.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory valuation, standard costs, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems; Oracle and HFM experience strongly preferred.
