Focal Point has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor for our Existing Product Support (EPS) team in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will be a key part of the Focal Point engineering team, supporting the development of world-class luminaire designs and the integration of those luminaires into an ever-advancing lighting environment.
This individual will manage projects for an offshore team of engineers in India and lead two onsite technicians who are accountable for the completion of product updates and cost reduction projects and for the support of the ongoing production of our products. In addition, this person will ensure that projects are delivered on time, while maintaining high-quality standards in support of Focal Point’s premium brand. This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager of Product Development.

This role leads Focal Point’s Existing Product Support (EPS) engineering team, managing product updates, cost reduction initiatives, design improvements, and ongoing production support. The position provides technical and project leadership, ensuring products meet quality, performance, manufacturing, and assembly requirements while supporting on-time delivery. Responsibilities include overseeing project priorities, reviewing mechanical designs, coordinating cross-functional teams, supporting supplier collaboration, and driving continuous improvement through DFM, GD&T, FMEA, and VAVE methodologies. The role also focuses on mentoring and developing team members while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused engineering environment.
