The Role
Neural Concept is looking for an HR Operations Specialist to own and build U.S. HR operations for our growing tech scale-up.
We are around 20 people in the U.S. today and may reach 100 or more within four years. You will run U.S. HR admin end to end, from payroll to benefits. You will also shape the strategy that gets us there, including when to stay on a PEO and when to move to direct administration.
This is not an execution-only role. We are looking for someone solid on the fundamentals who takes initiative and proposes solutions. Within two to three years, you could grow into the in-house HR lead for the U.S.
You will also spend part of your time supporting our Talent Acquisition team, based in Switzerland. You will work closely with colleagues across our international organization, where the U.S. is one part of a global business.
Key responsibilities
U.S. HR operations (core of the role)
Own U.S. HR admin end to end: onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, payroll and HR records.
Run U.S. benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and 401(k) programs.
Manage the relationship with our PEO, payroll and benefits providers, and hold them to account.
Build the U.S. HR roadmap for our growth to 100+ people. This covers what to put in place now and when to move from a PEO to direct administration.
Maintain HR policies and ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment requirements.
Talent acquisition support
Support local hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team by screening candidates, coordinating interviews and preparing offers.
Keep recruiting data and candidate notes accurate in our ATS.
Cross-functional HR projects
Contribute to global HR topics beyond the U.S., such as learning and development.
Over time, take ownership of one HR area across the company as the team grows.
What we are looking for
3+ years of hands-on HR operations experience in the U.S. is mandatory.
Strong practical knowledge of U.S. payroll, benefits administration, 401(k) programs and HR compliance.
Experience working with a PEO. Experience evaluating a PEO or moving away from one is a strong plus.
A proactive, strategic mindset: you bring proposals and a point of view, not just execution.
Solid, steady and reliable on admin, with close attention to detail.
Genuine interest in recruiting and comfort spending part of your time on it.
Exposure to HR topics outside the U.S., or experience in an international company, is a plus.
Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is highly valued.
Familiarity with an ATS. Experience with Ashby is a plus.
What success looks like
Within 6 months, U.S. HR admin runs smoothly and accurately, from payroll and benefits to 401(k).
Within the first year, a U.S. HR roadmap for growth to 100+ people is agreed, including a plan on the PEO.
Hiring managers and the TA team rely on you for fast, well-run U.S. hiring processes.
In 2 to 3 years, you are the go-to HR lead for the U.S. and own at least one global HR topic.
