Senior Platform Deployment Engineer, Kentik
We have an opportunity for a Senior Platform Deployment Engineer specializing in Kentik to join our APJ Professional Services team in India, reporting to the Director of Professional Services, APJ. In this pivotal, hands-on role, you will serve as the subject matter expert, ensuring that new Kentik customers achieve the fastest possible time-to-value from their investment. You will be directly responsible for delivering a seamless technical onboarding experience and guide customers to their First Desired Outcome – the initial, tangible moment of success with Kentik products. You will provide technical leadership and guidance to both customers and partners throughout project delivery, ensuring high-quality outcome and alignment with best practices. A key measure of success will be achieving billable utilization targets while proactively identifying opportunities to deliver additional value for our customers.
Be a Contributor - What You’ll do
- Perform the technical onboarding and deployment experience for new customers
- Collaborate with customers to execute the technical onboarding implementation plan, ensuring a clear path to their First Desired Outcome
- Lead the deployment and configuration of the Kentik Platform, including Private Agent installation, test creation, and initial setup for new Kentik customers
- Understand customer business requirements and pain-points, and effectively translate them into actionable implementation projects based on industry best practices
- Leverage your in-depth knowledge to assess customer needs, provide tailored recommendation, and assist in the formulation of effective strategies to drive customer successful onboarding
- Ensure the successfully completion of projects within the designated time frame and budget, while achieving project goals and maintaining a customer satisfaction score of 95 or higher
- Work closely with sales engineers and account managers to ensure a smooth transition from pre-sales to post sales delivery
- Foster collaboration with internal and external teams to drive product adoption
- Leverage AI-enabled deployment and onboarding workflows to accelerate customer implementation, including project planning, deployment documentation, configuration validation, call note summarization, action-item tracking, troubleshooting support, knowledge transfer, and adoption milestone analysis tied to customer outcomes
- Build and maintain reusable AI prompt libraries, deployment templates, implementation playbooks, and governed knowledge bases to support consistent project delivery, accelerate issue resolution, and improve onboarding quality
- Leverage AI-assisted insights to optimize deployment activities, identify adoption risks, recommend best practices, enhance customer enablement, and improve the efficiency and quality of project delivery
- Travel up to 20% may be required
Be Prepared - What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience working in a customer-facing technical role focused on software implementation or onboarding
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing protocols, including IPv4/v6, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, HTTP and DNS
- Hands-on experience in networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, network monitoring technologies (NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, SNMP), and packet capture and traffic analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump
- Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix system administration, network infrastructure, and major vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper, and Arista), with DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management is a plus
- Experience with automation, scripting and software integration, including Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby, APIs, RESTful services, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Working knowledge of network and cloud security, including firewalls, DDoS mitigation, security policies, network segmentation, RPKI, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
- Experience with network performance monitoring and Internet-scale architectures, including CDN, Anycast, GSLB, traffic optimization, synthetic testing, and troubleshooting complex enterprise and service provider environments
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively present at both internal and external meetings
- A customer-centric mindset with the initiative to always do what is best for the customers
- Capable of operating autonomously, aligning with business goals, and effectively steering technical discussions
- Practical experience using AI tools and copilots (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, summarization, translation, knowledge retrieval, and data analysis) to accelerate customer onboarding, deployment documentation, implementation planning, troubleshooting, project status reporting, and adoption analysis
- Experience applying AI-driven solutions to improve deployment efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, accelerate issue resolution, optimize platform configurations, and support customer enablement throughout the implementation lifecycle
- Strong discipline in leveraging AI alongside project delivery methodologies, customer success processes, ticketing systems, and technical documentation to improve execution quality, operational efficiency, knowledge management, and customer outcomes
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment and the willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done
Be Successful - Your Path
First 90 Days: Complete onboarding and technical enablement on Kentik products and deployment methodologies. Build relationships with key stakeholders, shadow customer implementations, obtain relevant certifications, and develop a strong understanding of customer onboarding, network observability, and deployment best practices.
Six Months: Lead customer onboarding and deployment projects with increasing independence. Successfully guide customers to their First Desired Outcome, achieve utilization targets, contribute to customer satisfaction objectives, and become a trusted technical advisor for implementation and adoption activities.
One Year: Serve as a primary technical resource for Kentik deployments across APJ, independently managing complex implementation engagements from planning through production rollout. Contribute to deployment playbooks, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives while driving customer adoption, business outcomes, and long-term platform success.
