Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, answering questions, fulfilling custom cutting requests, and processing special orders. Collaborate respectfully with Team Members to create a positive work environment and deliver a World Class Customer Experience.
- Cut, trim, grind, and prepare various meat products according to company standards, food safety requirements, and customer specifications while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Monitor product freshness and quality by rotating stock using first-in, first-out procedures, removing outdated products, and ensuring all meat products meet merchandising and food safety standards.
- Maintain attractive meat displays by merchandising products, ensuring proper pricing and labeling, building displays, and keeping department presentation standards consistent and appealing.
- Follow food safety regulations, sanitation standards, WHMIS requirements, and occupational health and safety procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, waste reduction, shrink control, and accurate tracking of merchandise to support profitability and operational efficiency.
- Operate meat cutting equipment and tools safely and effectively while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Support overall department operations and work collaboratively with Team Members and leadership to ensure department goals are achieved.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of high school or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in meat cutting, butchery, food processing, or food retail is preferred.
- Experience operating meat cutting equipment, grinders, slicers, saws, and related tools is considered an asset.
- Food Safety Certification (FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent) is considered an asset.
- WHMIS certification or training is preferred.
- Knowledge of safe knife handling, meat preparation, and processing techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail food industry.
- Retail meat department environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements.
- Regular work in refrigerated environments and around sharp tools and equipment.
- May be required to lift and carry items up to 25 kg (50 lbs) or more while adhering to safe lifting practices.
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a part-time capacity.
