Department Summary
WellSpan Evangelical Hospital is a 132-bed community hospital consisting of three Medical-Surgical units and one Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The 2nd Floor Intermediate Care Unit is a 24-bed unit that cares for patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, including stroke, sepsis, and post-cardiac catheterization patients.
The 3rd Floor Medical-Surgical Unit is a 28-bed unit that serves patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, small bowel obstruction, and those recovering from a variety of surgical procedures.
The 4th Floor Orthopedic/Medical Unit is a 24-bed combined specialty unit that cares for orthopedic patients recovering from procedures such as knee, shoulder, and spinal surgeries, in addition to medical-surgical patients.
General Summary
Provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
