The Spa Therapist is responsible for delivering professional, personalised, and high-quality spa and wellness treatments to guests in accordance with AVANI+ standards.
The role focuses on creating a relaxing and memorable guest experience through excellent treatment techniques, attentive service, professional consultation, and a warm and welcoming approach. The Spa Therapist is also responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, treatment-room presentation, and professional conduct at all times.
Guest Experience & Spa Treatments
- Welcome guests warmly and professionally, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
- Conduct consultations with guests to understand their needs, preferences, and any relevant treatment considerations.
- Deliver a range of spa treatments in accordance with the resort's treatment menu and established procedures.
- Provide professional massages, body treatments, facials, scrubs, wraps, and other wellness treatments within the therapist's qualifications.
- Adapt treatments appropriately according to guest preferences while remaining within professional and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and personal attention throughout every treatment.
- Explain treatments, products, and aftercare recommendations clearly to guests.
- Ensure guests are comfortable before, during, and after treatments.
- Recognise opportunities to recommend appropriate additional treatments or retail products without being overly sales-focused.
2. Treatment Room Standards
- Prepare treatment rooms before each appointment according to established standards.
- Ensure treatment rooms are clean, hygienic, organised, and properly stocked.
- Maintain appropriate ambience through lighting, music, temperature, aromas, and presentation.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitise treatment rooms and equipment after every treatment.
- Ensure towels, linens, oils, creams, products, and other supplies are available and properly stored.
- Report any maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or shortages to the Spa Manager or Supervisor.
3. Health, Hygiene & Safety
- Follow all spa hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety procedures.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional grooming standards.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Follow appropriate contraindication and treatment consultation procedures.
- Immediately report any guest incident, injury, allergic reaction, or health concern to the Spa Manager/Supervisor and follow established procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guest information and treatment details.
4. Product & Retail Knowledge
- Maintain strong knowledge of the spa's treatment products and retail range.
- Explain the benefits and appropriate use of products to guests.
- Recommend suitable home-care products based on guests' individual needs.
- Support spa retail sales and contribute to achieving departmental targets.
- Ensure products are handled, stored, and used correctly to minimise waste.
5. Appointments & Daily Operations
- Review the daily treatment schedule and prepare accordingly.
- Ensure treatments start and finish on time while maintaining service quality.
- Coordinate effectively with the Spa Receptionist and other spa colleagues.
- Communicate guest preferences, special requests, and relevant treatment information appropriately.
- Assist with maintaining accurate treatment records where required.
- Support smooth daily operation of the spa and assist colleagues when necessary.
6. Guest Satisfaction
- Build positive relationships with guests and encourage repeat visits.
- Be attentive to guest feedback and respond professionally to requests or concerns.
- Report guest feedback to the Spa Manager/Supervisor.
- Participate in guest satisfaction initiatives and service improvement programmes.
- Maintain a discreet and respectful approach, particularly with VIP and repeat guests.
7. Teamwork & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with other Spa and Wellness team members and hotel departments.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Participate in training, product demonstrations, treatment updates, and skills development.
- Keep up to date with professional spa, wellness, beauty, and treatment trends.
- Maintain all relevant professional qualifications and certifications.
8. Hotel & Brand Standards
- Consistently represent the values and service standards of AVANI+ Barbarons Seychelles.
- Maintain professional appearance and grooming in accordance with hotel standards.
- Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain a positive, friendly, and service-oriented attitude.
- Respect guest privacy and hotel confidentiality at all times.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless overall guest experience.
