Senior Backend Engineer, Billing
Apify · Czechia
Apify is a marketplace of ready-to-run tools for AI that automate work on the web. Thousands of Actors get web data, generate leads, monitor social media, track competitors, and integrate with existing apps and agents. Actors are created by a global community of builders who earn from them, while Apify manages infrastructure, billing, and distribution. Learn more at apify.com.
Join us to help people put the web to work. Apify can find missing children, protect consumers from fake discounts across the EU, and feed data to AI chatbots.
Apify is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript). As a member of the Creators group, you'll be building a world-class ecosystem for community developers and builders to create, publish, and monetize their ideas as Actors on Apify. You will build tools and features that help them succeed in the ongoing AI revolution, utilize agentic coding and other agentic flows in their daily operations, and earn monthly payouts to support their living (collectively earning >$1.2M/month from usage of their Actors!).
What you'll be working on:
Own features and projects end-to-end, from the discovery phase through to production, and see them have a real impact on creators.
Build the tools and features creators rely on to publish, monetize, and grow their Actors.
Work in a small, cross-functional team, shipping in two-week sprints and deploying daily.
Use the Apify platform yourself every day - we build for builders by builders - and take pride in making it better.
Contribute to open source; we publish everything we can on GitHub (PRs are welcome 😉).
Billing team
The Billing team is responsible for the entire payout infrastructure for creators, ensuring that >$1.2M/month actually reaches the hands of hundreds of community developers. They also own the entire billing system, ensuring Apify users can subscribe, invoices are issued, payments go through, and more. One of the most exciting challenges you'll work on is building the backbone for the emerging agentic payment economy, alongside deep, complex work to keep our internal billing system running efficiently and reliably as Apify's business grows.
