Senior Technical Writer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Technical Writer will support Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) editing and creating IETMs (Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals) and TMs (Technical Manuals) using PTC Arbortext to MIL-STD-3001 specification. The position will be onsite at our facility in Indianapolis, IN.

JOB DUTIES:

Author, edit, and develop IETMs and TMs for NAVAIR equipment, to cover maintenance, operation, repair, theory of operation, troubleshooting, and Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) in accordance with MIL-STD-3001 requirements.
Author, prepare, review, revise, and develop IETMs and TMs for NAVAIR equipment from source data such as Logistics Product Data, Engineering Drawings, and Maintenance Plans for equipment operation and maintenance.
Create and update NAVAIR MIL-STD-3001 XML documentation with complete understanding of XML tags and how to apply to text.
Coordinate content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines.
Perform quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and non-technical documents.
Evaluate document quality based on accuracy, substance, and quality of written content.
Create narrative content using Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews to author and validate with technical system engineers, architects, and other SMEs.
Create agendas, meeting minutes, initial technical publication outlines, and incrementally create, validate, update, and review document content.
