Job Description

• What are your plans for Summer 2027?
• At KPFF San Francisco, we are looking for Structural Engineering Interns who want to do meaningful work on real-world projects. This is not a “shadow and observe” internship; you’ll be a contributor on projects that shape our communities and learn alongside engineers who are passionate about both design and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Who We’re Looking For
• We’re excited to connect with students who are curious, collaborative, and eager to grow their skills in consulting and structural engineering. If you enjoy solving problems, working as part of a team, and applying what you’ve learned in the classroom to real projects, this is a place to test your skills, ask questions, and see where structural engineering can take you.

Required: 

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s (junior standing or higher) or Master’s program in civil or structural engineering. 

• Strong communication and teamwork skills. 

• Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. 

Preferred: 

• Familiarity with structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, or RISA). 

• Experience with Autodesk Revit. 

• EIT certification or a plan to pursue certification in the future. 

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods, reviewing plans and performing design analysis. 

• Comfort with conducting site visits and navigating construction sites, including climbing ladders and walking on uneven terrain. 

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.

Note: This internship requires you to be onsite and is not a remote position.

• KPFF is committed to offering competitive pay that reflects both market standards and the local cost of living. For the San Francisco Structural Engineering Internship, the hourly pay range is $33.50-$37.50​, depending on your education level, relevant experience, and skills.
