Technical Lead (Mechanical)

PACCAR India is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Technical Lead – Cab, Hood Interior & Exterior to join our Commercial Vehicle Engineering team in Pune. The position is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and validation of truck cab structures, hood assemblies, interior trims, and exterior systems for global PACCAR products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of truck cab, hood, interior, exterior, sheet metal, and structural components from concept through production release.
- Providing technical direction and engineering solutions for complex design challenges.
- Review, approve, and guide the development of CAD models, manufacturing drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and engineering release documentation.
- Mentor and engineers on design methodologies, engineering standards, and product development processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and engineering standardization activities, and lessons-learned implementation across programs.
- Lead vehicle packaging studies, system integration, and interface management across vehicle subsystems.
- Lead development of cab structures, hood systems, closures, interior trim, exterior panels, and associated mechanisms.
- Support DFMEA, design validation, durability, manufacturability, and quality improvement activities.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
- Support prototype builds, testing, issue resolution, and production implementation activities.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure timely closure of engineering issues.
- Provide technical guidance for future product development initiatives, new technologies, and platform enhancements.
Technical Competencies:
- Experience in cost reduction initiatives, value engineering, localization, and implementation of productivity improvements is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes, and CAE/FEA analysis is an added advantage.
- Experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle (truck) industry.
- Experience in cab, hood, interior, and exterior component design and development is preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering
Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:
- 8–12 years of experience in automotive/commercial vehicle product design and development.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Truck Cab, Hood, Interior, or Exterior systems.
- Experience leading engineering teams and technical projects.
- Commercial vehicle/truck domain experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal, piping and manufacturing processes.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC piping/tubing layouts for trucks and commercial vehicles.
- Capable of efficiently designing and managing large assemblies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
- Excellent grasp of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
