Field Engineer

SAIC is seeking Field Service Representatives (FSR) to support the U.S. Army’s Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (M‑SHORAD) program. The FSR will provide onsite technical expertise, training, and coordination for fielding, operation, troubleshooting, and sustainment of the M‑SHORAD system across CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive air defense and/or counter–UAS experience and a strong background in soldier / operator training, system employment, and field support. Prior military experience and 9+ years of experience preferred.

This position requires frequent interaction with Army units and other DoD stakeholders, providing hands-on support for system fielding, new equipment training, and sustainment.

Responsibilities

Technical and On-site Support and Maintenance
- System set-up, configuration, and operational checks.
- Troubleshooting, fault isolation, and coordination of repairs.
- Assist with diagnosing hardware, software, and integration issues; escalate complex issues to lead/engineering teams as required.
- Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, system upgrades, and modifications in accordance with technical manuals and approved procedures.
- Ensure accurate use of test equipment, diagnostic tools, and software utilities.
- Support test events, fielding activities, live-fire exercises, and unit training events as an on-site subject matter expert (SME).
Training & Documentation
- Plan and conduct operator and maintainer training for unit personnel, including new equipment training (NET), sustainment training, and on‑the‑job instruction.
- Develop or refine training materials, checklists, quick‑reference guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide feedback to engineering and logistics teams to improve manuals, troubleshooting guides, and technical data.
Customer Interface & Reporting
- Provide technical briefings, status updates, and recommendations to FSR lead, military leadership and program stakeholders as needed.
- Capture, track, and report system performance, failures, maintenance actions, and trends using government and SAIC reporting tools.
- Contribute to root cause analyses and corrective action plans for recurring issues.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with Army regulations, safety standards, and site policies.
- Enforce adherence to quality, security, and export control requirements throughout maintenance and support operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reliability, maintainability, and supportability of the M‑SHORAD system.
