Job Summary
This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating off-highway haul trucks (off-road) to transport dirt, crushed stone, sand and gravel, and other materials within quarries, pits, yards, and/or plants. The Off-Road Haul Truck Driver will operate a rigid frame and/or articulated haul trucks of varying sizes, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials while adhering to all Vulcan and government rules and regulations.
Overnight travel is required for this position. This can include but is not limited to travel across the state of Alabama and surrounding states ranging from days to weeks at a time.
Essential Functions

Operate off-road haul trucks to transport material within Vulcan facilities.
Maintain a thorough understanding of truck controls and functions, potentially including air brakes, emergency procedures, and safe operating practices.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
Perform basic maintenance checks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, functionality and tire pressure.
Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance.
Some instances will require washing of the haul truck to facilitate a thorough inspection can be completed using high pressure hose, steam cleaner or pressure washer.

Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, coordinating with other operators and ground personnel.
Technical Expertise: Solid mechanical understanding of equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction and report them to the maintenance team.
