Babylon Sydney is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen team.
We’re all about high-volume contemporary Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine with an Australian influence, and we’re looking for a hands-on chef who can lead a team, keep service running smoothly and maintain consistently high food standards.
About the role
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll help lead the kitchen team across busy services while ensuring food quality, presentation and kitchen standards are consistently maintained.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Leading and motivating the kitchen team during busy services
- Ensuring food is prepared and presented consistently to a high standard
- Working across preparation and service in a hands-on capacity
- Helping maintain efficient kitchen operations and service flow
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and kitchen standards
- Supporting stock control, ordering and minimising food wastage
- Training and mentoring junior chefs and developing the wider kitchen team
- Helping create a positive, professional and team-focused kitchen environment
You’ll bring:
- Previous Sous Chef or strong senior chef experience
- Restaurant kitchen experience is essential
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong food preparation and presentation skills
- The ability to lead, support and motivate a kitchen team
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- A hands-on approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong food safety and kitchen standards
