London Building Control, in partnership with Bureau Veritas, is looking for an experienced Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join our growing Building Control team as a Remote Plan Checker.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong RBI who enjoys the analytical side of building control and wants to focus on plan assessment work within a flexible role. You'll play a key part in ensuring developments comply with Building Regulations while helping deliver safe, sustainable, and high-quality buildings across England.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Remote Plan Checker, you'll be responsible for:
- Assessing building regulation applications, plans, and technical submissions for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Reviewing architectural, structural, fire safety, accessibility, and energy-related information.
- Identifying compliance issues and providing clear, practical, and proportionate technical advice.
- Managing statutory consultations with Fire and Rescue Authorities where required.
- Reviewing amended submissions and supporting applicants through the approval process.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring assessments are completed within statutory timescales.
- Providing technical guidance and support to colleagues across the wider building control team.
- Supporting knowledge-sharing, technical training, and mentoring activities where appropriate.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Current Class 2A -D Building Inspector (RBI) registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR)
- Strong experience within Building Control and plan assessment in England.
- Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and associated legislation.
- Experience assessing technical drawings and building regulation applications.
- Understanding of fire safety requirements and statutory consultation processes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical requirements clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing a varied caseload.
Desirable
- Experience working across domestic and commercial projects.
- Experience mentoring or supporting other building control professionals.
- Professional qualifications within building surveying, construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
