Digital news student worker, NEWSWELL

NEWSWELL is seeking creative, adaptable, self-starting student workers to support a wide range of editorial and digital tasks across our network of community newsrooms. This role is ideal for students interested in digital media, community journalism and audience engagement who want hands-on experience working with multiple editors and wearing many hats in a fast-moving newsroom environment.

NEWSWELL’s network encompasses the Times of San Diego, Stocktonia, the Santa Barbara News-Press and four Chicago-area publications. Your work will include writing short community stories and briefs; supporting our social media team with content creation, paid search and Google Ads; and helping publish stories across our websites. You will collaborate with editors, reporters and audience staff to ensure our journalism is accurate, accessible and engaging.

Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at Arizona State University. Preference will be given to more advanced students.

This position pays $20 per hour for up to 16 hours per week. Remote work is available, with occasional in-person meetings or coaching sessions in downtown Phoenix. Scheduling is flexible to accommodate classes, and the role uses standard newsroom and cloud-based tools.
