Appnovation Technologies · Kuala Lumpur

About us

Appnovation is the AI Product Company. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with teams around the world, Appnovation builds AI products, delivers enterprise AI and digital solutions, and co-invests with clients to bring new AI products to market.

Open source has been the foundation of Appnovation's work since 2007, and it remains the foundation underneath every AI product the company builds today. Appnovation teams work with organizations in highly regulated industries, including global leaders such as Pfizer, Google and AstraZeneca, to help them adopt AI they can govern and own.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, visionary Technical Manager with a robust full-stack background to lead our agile engineering team in driving AI-powered product initiatives. In this role, you will bridge technical strategy, architectural direction, and hands-on execution across cloud services and full-stack environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional leadership, product managers, and clients to scale modern AI solutions. The ideal candidate combines technical leadership with team advocacy, possessing a deep passion for cloud infrastructure, scalable full-stack web applications, and artificial intelligence integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and empower a multidisciplinary team of full-stack and cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Drive the technical vision and engineering roadmap for our core AI product offerings, aligning cloud architecture and full-stack execution with strategic business goals.
Oversee end-to-end design, implementation, and deployment of scalable full-stack applications powered by cloud environments and machine learning models.
Collaborate directly with product managers, UX designers, and senior stakeholders to translate complex requirements into actionable technical deliverable milestones.
Enforce engineering best practices, robust CI/CD automation pipelines, secure cloud operations, and rigorous code reviews to maintain application scalability and reliability.

What we are looking for:

Must-Have

Proven experience in technical leadership, management, or software team lead roles overseeing cloud-native full-stack solutions.
Strong hands-on background in full-stack application development (modern frontend frameworks such as React/Next.js alongside backend services like Python, Node.js, or Java).
Demonstrated expertise in Cloud Services architecture (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for building scalable, secure, and cost-effective product platforms.
Practical understanding of AI integrations, machine learning pipeline execution, or working with leading LLM APIs and open-source models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face).
Strong technical governance experience across code quality, agile delivery methodologies, rapid prototyping, and architectural decision-making.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience designing and deploying production-grade Generative AI, MLOps, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.

Who you are

You balance hands-on technical depth with compassionate leadership, effectively mentoring engineers while steering architectural decisions.
You are curious and continuously push boundaries to integrate emerging technologies, cloud practices, and AI frameworks into impactful products.
You communicate clearly and adapt your delivery approach across technical teams, key business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
You take full ownership of delivery outcomes, staying resilient and strategic when navigating complex engineering requirements or changing priorities.
