Manager, Surgical Product/Brand Marketing - Downstream is responsible for developing and executing downstream marketing strategies that drive brand growth, market share expansion, and customer engagement across Alcon's Surgical portfolio. The role partners closely with global marketing teams, cross-functional stakeholders, sales organizations, and key customers to ensure successful product positioning, lifecycle management, and commercialization initiatives.
The position plays a critical role in translating market insights into actionable marketing programs, promotional campaigns, professional education initiatives, and customer-focused solutions that support business objectives. The role also ensures all marketing activities are executed in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Additionally, the Manager is responsible for monitoring business performance, managing brand budgets, and identifying market opportunities that enhance customer value while driving sustainable business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
- Develop and execute marketing strategies aligned with local business objectives and global marketing direction for the Surgical portfolio.
- Define brand positioning, value propositions, and customer engagement strategies to strengthen brand equity and market leadership.
- Develop annual marketing plans, promotional campaigns, and tactical initiatives to support revenue growth and market share objectives.
- Drive product lifecycle management activities, including product launches, portfolio optimization, and end-of-life transition planning.
- Collaborate with global and regional marketing teams to localize and implement strategic initiatives and campaigns.
Market Insights & Customer Engagement
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and business opportunities.
- Gather customer insights through direct engagement with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), distributors, and industry partners.
- Monitor competitor activities and evolving market dynamics to support strategic planning and business decision-making.
- Translate market intelligence into actionable recommendations that improve product positioning and commercial effectiveness.
- Support professional education programs, events, workshops, and customer engagement initiatives that enhance brand awareness and product adoption.
Marketing Execution & Commercial Excellence
- Lead the execution of promotional campaigns across traditional and digital marketing channels.
- Partner with Sales teams to develop customer-focused marketing tools, sales aids, and educational materials.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial Excellence, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant marketing communications.
- Support digital transformation initiatives, including social media engagement, e-Commerce enablement, and digital marketing programs.
- Measure and evaluate campaign effectiveness through defined KPIs and implement improvements to maximize return on investment.
Business Performance & Financial Management
- Monitor product and brand performance using sales data, market share analysis, customer feedback, and business intelligence tools.
- Analyze business performance trends and recommend corrective actions to achieve commercial objectives.
- Develop sales forecasts, demand projections, and business cases to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Manage brand budgets, promotional spending, and marketing investments to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
- Track and report marketing performance metrics, providing regular updates to management and key stakeholders.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all marketing activities comply with company policies, industry codes of conduct, regulatory requirements, and applicable healthcare compliance standards.
- Review and approve marketing materials through established approval processes and governance frameworks.
- Maintain accurate documentation for marketing activities, campaigns, sponsorships, and professional education programs.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Complete all mandatory compliance and regulatory training within established timelines.
People Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build strong partnerships with Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Supply Chain, and Global Marketing teams.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and cross-functional stakeholders involved in marketing initiatives.
- Promote collaboration, innovation, accountability, and customer focus across the organization.
- Support organizational transformation, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of a high-performing marketing organization through knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Education
(minimum/desirable)
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Life Sciences, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Professional certifications in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Product Management, or related disciplines are an added advantage.
Languages
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Additional regional language capabilities are an advantage based on market requirements.
Experience
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Commercial Excellence, Product Management, or related functions.
- Proven experience developing and executing successful downstream marketing strategies and commercial initiatives.
- Experience managing medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences products is preferred.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, market access, customer engagement, and commercial operations.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Global Marketing.
- Demonstrated success in product launches, promotional campaigns, and business growth initiatives.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and analyzing business performance metrics.
