We're building a new, AI-native product for agentic B2B commerce. It gives buyers, sellers and AI agents the same answer – the right product at the customer's contracted price – in every channel, from the web shop to email. It's built by a lean, AI-native engineering team where coding agents are part of how we ship: small teams, large scope.

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering for our new product and to be the first leader of our fast-growing engineering community in Egypt. It's one job with two sides:

• Product engineering leadership. You lead the engineering organization that builds the product across our teams. You manage the engineers and make sure a lean, AI-native group of engineers across the UAE, Ukraine and Egypt delivers quickly and with high quality.
• Egypt site leadership. Egypt is our main engineering hub, with a rapidly expanding team. Our Egyptian engineers work in different teams, each with its own day-to-day lead. You're their local leader and first point of contact: the person who builds the community, looks after their wellbeing and growth, and helps us grow the team. Much of this is informal leadership – you lead through trust and influence, not through the reporting line.

This is primarily a people and delivery leadership role rather than a hands-on coding role. You'll bring enough technical depth to understand the architecture, ask the right questions and work closely with engineers. You'll partner closely with Product Management and Architecture.

What you'll be doing

Leading product engineering

• Keeping a fast-moving product on track, turning the roadmap into reliable delivery across Buyer Channels, Seller Studio and Platform.
• Shaping small, autonomous teams with clear ownership and ways of working that suit a distributed organization. • Helping teams get real value from AI coding agents, with clear quality standards and metrics that show measurable impact.
• Building in reliability with the Platform team: observability, SLOs and incident management.
• Coaching team leads and senior engineers, and hiring and developing engineers across all locations.

Leading our Egypt engineering community

• Being the local face of Sana and first point of contact for every engineer in Egypt, whatever their team.
• Holding regular 1:1s to support engineers’ growth and careers.
• Building a connected Sana community in Egypt and growing the team.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

Must-haves

• 5+ years in engineering management, including 2+ years leading multiple teams or team leads.
• A background as a senior engineer or tech lead, with a strong understanding of cloud-native, API-first systems (Azure is a plus).
• A track record of delivering a new product to production and running it, with measurable outcomes.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools, yourself or through teams you've led, and a clear view of where they help and where they fail.
• Track record of developing engineers, and excellent written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience setting up or leading an engineering site.
• Experience with LLM or agent-based products, or with B2B commerce.
• Experience leading distributed teams across cultures, including through influence.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
