[What the role is]
As a Biologist in the Aquatic Biology Laboratory of Water Quality Department, you will work with a team to conduct routine monitoring and analysis of water samples to ensure water safety.Your main roles and responsibilities would include but not limited to:
[What you will be working on]
- Perform biological analyses of water samples which include morphological and molecular identification of phytoplankton and zooplankton, analyses of chlorophyll-a, algal toxins and acute toxicity tests; input of results into laboratory information management system (LIMS) and alert on abnormalities to trigger investigation for water quality improvement
- Conduct analyses of water quality data, provide scientific and data analytics to drive biological water quality monitoring
- Support R&D studies with the aim of improving efficiency of biological monitoring of water quality, perform methods/protocols development and prepare technical documents as required
- Manage the inventory of laboratory’s equipment, reagents and consumables and maintain laboratory safety
[What we are looking for]
- Degree in Aquatic Biology, Environmental Science or related Science disciplines
- Candidates with experience in laboratory work is preferred
- Motivated, responsible and proactive individual
- Good written, communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player who is also able to work independently
- The succesful candidate will be offered a 11-months contract
