Lead Data Engineer
Veikkaus Oy · Finland · €11,202/month (stated in the posting)
- Would you like to play a key role in turning data from Finland’s largest e-commerce platform, one of the country’s most extensive customer bases, and vast volumes of gaming event data into a strong foundation for data-driven decision-making? We are now looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our team.
- We are the Data as a Service (DaaS) team, a core part of Veikkaus' TECH organization. Our team of around 20 professionals is responsible for the data's core journey — from integrating data through various interfaces, to transforming and storing it, and ultimately delivering it for analytics and other solutions.
- Our day-to-day work includes maintaining existing solutions, building new ones, and continuously developing our ways of working — both in terms of technology and processes. We design and build future data platform solutions while continuously improving efficiency.
- This position is full time and permanent and located at Veikkaus’ headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. We work flexibly in a hybrid model - to foster collaboration and teamwork we meet at the office three times a week. Please note that this job requires a valid residence permit for all non-EU citizens.
This role is for you if you
- bring extensive experience in data engineering or related roles, with a clear track record of working at a senior or lead level. We expect you to have strong hands-on experience in data ingestions, SQL and ETL/ELT processes.
- You also
- have a deep technical understanding of the architecture along with a vision of how to get there – and the ability to inspire and lead other data engineers towards it
- are passionate about technical data processing
- are familiar with agile methods and understand their value
- appreciate long-term development and continuous improvement
In this role as a Lead Data Engineer, we expect not only solid expertise and vision, but also a drive to develop team practices and tools, support the implementation of changes, guide daily work, and help colleagues succeed. The role can be shaped based on your strengths and experience.
We consider as an advantage if you have
- experience in utilizing AI in your daily work
- experience with integrations to external systems
- experience in DevOps
- worked with technologies such as GCP, Kafka, and NiFi
We have lots of different stakeholders with whom you need to be able to communicate clearly - our main language is English. Finnish language skills are seen as a plus.
We offer:
- A workplace where the game evolves – and so do you. You’ll face meaningful challenges and gain new skills while contributing to shared success – in Finland and beyond. We value curiosity and create the space for it to thrive.
- Inspiring and supportive teammates you can rely on. The best ideas and world-class entertainment are built together – and Veikkaus thrives because of its people.
- Balanced and inspiring work life. At Veikkaus, we believe a good job adds something to life – but isn’t all there is to it.
- Excellent employee benefits. You can read more about us and our benefits from here.
