Your role and impact

As our Sales Manager  South Africa, you will lead our Clinical Operations sales activities across the country, with accountability for achieving annual revenue and profitability objectives through the successful execution of bioMérieux’s commercial strategy and the leadership of a highly trained and engaged Sales team of 6 members.

You will combine strategic commercial leadership with a strong presence in the field, working closely with your Sales team, customers, Key Opinion Leaders and strategic accounts to drive sustainable growth, retain existing business and identify new commercial opportunities.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Drive sales performance and business growth, leading the annual sales budget process and contributing to the three-year strategic plan while ensuring achievement of revenue and profitability objectives.
• Translate our commercial strategy into action, developing the right approaches across market segments in partnership with Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, Medical and Market Access teams.
• Lead, coach and develop the Sales team, providing regular field coaching, performance follow-up and development opportunities to build a highly engaged and effective team.
• Manage strategic customers and national Key Accounts, including relationships at C-suite level, and develop strategic account plans to secure customer retention and sustainable growth.
• Drive commercial execution in the field, working alongside Sales teams to develop strategic opportunities, visit key customers and prospects, support negotiations and close important business opportunities.
• Oversee sales forecasting and performance management, leveraging CRM, pipeline and market information to monitor results, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Lead commercial strategy for key tenders and contracts, supporting tender submissions and negotiations across public and private sector opportunities and providing final pricing authority when required.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities, identifying opportunities and challenges and adapting the commercial approach accordingly.

Who are you?

• You hold a Biomedical degree, MedTech diploma, or equivalent relevant qualification.
• You bring a minimum of 7 years of commercial experience within in vitro diagnostics and/or corporate account sales or management, with a proven track record of delivering results.
• You demonstrate strong leadership and people-development capabilities, with experience coaching, engaging and motivating sales teams to achieve their objectives.
• You bring strong presentation and negotiation skills and are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and strategic customers.
• You are agile and proactive in a changing environment, able to challenge existing ways of working and propose adjustments to processes, tools, organization or policies.
• You have a genuinely hands-on, field-oriented approach. You enjoy being close to your sales team and customers and turning commercial strategy into concrete action.
• You are willing and able to travel extensively across South Africa, up to 70% depending on business requirements, to maintain a strong presence with customers and the sales team.
• You are fluent in English.
