JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, carry out a variety of duties at the Blood Bank including but not limited to performing blood component preparation and transporting of blood/blood components to and from the operating room and blood drive sites in a prompt accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Support of the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center and that of the Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TASK GROUPS
A - Equipment & Supplies Management (50%)
• Clean refrigerators, freezers, water baths and equipment surfaces.
• Clean and organize benches and working area.
• Clean and maintain order of the Donor Room and maintain the adequate number of items in the Donor Room and at each workstation.
B - Functional Responsibilities (50%)
• Perform blood component preparation including but not limited to packing and separating of whole blood into Red Blood Cells (RBC) and plasma, preparing of Cryoprecipitate and using the sterile connecting device.
• Transport blood to and from the Operating Rooms, carry blood units from the blood drive sites and assist in blood drive preparations.
• Organize and maintain tidiness at the Blood Bank storage area.
• Transport documents (charge cards, refunds) to and from designated areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor

KNOWLEDGE / KNOW-HOW
- Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures of the department. Basic knowledge of carrying procedures and safe handling of laboratory supplies.
- Education:
- Minimum Education: Elementary education
- Experience:
- Preferred Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience in laboratory operations
- Languages:
- Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (EET score >/= 450)
