Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Participates in audit plan development and continuous update ensuring assurance activities remain aligned to changes in the business environment risk landscape, and strategic objectives.
• Leads and executes IT audits across Old Mutual Uganda and provides audit support to other East Africa Group entities as assigned, ensuring the delivery of risk-based and value-adding assurance services.
• Supports the successful delivery of business and IT strategic initiatives by providing independent assurance over the most significant technology risks, including both existing and emerging risks, and evaluating the effectiveness of related governance, risk management, and control processes.
• Delivers IT audit and advisory assignments on time and in accordance with the Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology.
• Interacts with and provides IT audit assurance to the respective Audit and Risk Committees.
• Participates in preparation of Board papers to ensure key issues noted in various reviews are reported.
• Understands the risk profile of the businesses, gains and applies extensive industry knowledge in the various business lines.
• Provides independent opinion on risk and control environment for the various business units or processes.
• Provides IT expertise and support to financial and operational audit teams, enhancing audit effectiveness while applying an analytical and risk-based approach to audit assignments.
• Engages with process owners to plan and agree IT audit deliverables and ensures timely execution of audit activities.
• Challenges and influences the relevant executives to improve the IT governance, risk and control culture.
• Provides clients with an understanding of Group Internal Audit (GIA) expectations.
• Contributes to developmental interventions and on the job coaching.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree with a focus in IT, data science or related discipline.

• Professional qualifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CEH, CIA and CPA, or any other relevant certification is an added advantage.

• Minimum of seven years IT audit experience within the internal audit function and / or external audit function.

• Experience in the financial services industry is an added advantage.

• Proficient in use of data analytics tools, and knowledge of continuous auditing.
