Senior leadership opportunity managing a strategic national transport operation
DHL Supply Chain is seeking an experienced and commercially focused National Operations Manager to lead the delivery and performance of a strategic national transport operation.
This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance and continuous improvement across a complex transport network servicing customers nationwide. Reporting into senior leadership, you will act as the key operational lead, working closely with customers, transport providers and internal stakeholders to ensure service levels, contractual commitments and commercial outcomes are consistently achieved.
This is a highly visible customer-facing role suited to a confident leader who can influence outcomes, build strong stakeholder relationships and drive meaningful operational improvements across a national network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of a national transport portfolio, ensuring service delivery aligns with customer expectations and contractual requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and senior escalation point.
- Drive improvements in DIFOT, service reliability and overall operational performance.
- Analyse operational data, identify trends and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Manage transport providers and carrier partners to optimise performance, cost and service outcomes.
- Review financial performance, identify efficiencies and contribute to contract profitability.
- Oversee claims management and support timely resolution of operational and customer issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, transport, customer service and commercial teams.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience and operational effectiveness.
- Provide regular performance reporting, governance and business reviews to both customers and internal stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience in transport, logistics or supply chain operations within a customer-facing environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing financial performance and driving cost efficiencies.
- Demonstrated experience managing transport providers, contractors or carrier networks.
- Strong understanding of transport performance metrics, including DIFOT and service level management.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence and professionalism to engage with senior customer stakeholders and manage challenging conversations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience managing multi-site or national transport operations will be highly regarded.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related discipline are desirable.
Location
This role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney, with regular travel across the national network as required.
