We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across EMEA, covering multiple countries and legal entities. This is a key regional role combining responsibility for accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery with active involvement in a significant payroll transformation project over the next two years. The Senior Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Payroll Manager, HR, Finance, Global Mobility, HRIS, local payroll contacts and external providers. The role will support strong payroll governance, process standardisation, vendor transitions and systems integration, while ensuring local payroll requirements and controls are maintained.

Responsibilities

• Support regional payroll operations across EMEA, helping to ensure payroll is accurate, timely, compliant and appropriately controlled.
• Prepare, review and validate monthly payroll inputs and outputs, working closely with local HR teams and payroll providers where payroll is managed in-country.
• Contribute to the regional payroll transformation programme, supporting compliant and well-governed payroll transitions delivered in line with agreed timelines.
• Assist with vendor consolidation activities, including the transition from multiple payroll providers to a single strategic payroll provider.
• Work with the Payroll Project Manager, HRIS and Workday Integration Specialist to support systems integration and the transition from manual processes towards an integrated payroll model using Workday and Replicon.
• Identify opportunities to standardise, simplify and automate payroll processes, while ensuring local statutory requirements, controls and country-specific practices are appropriately maintained.
• Support payroll-related M&A activity, including due diligence, payroll data review, employee and entity onboarding, provider coordination, testing and integration into the regional payroll model.
• Support new-country and legal-entity set-up, including provider onboarding, payroll transition planning, data gathering, testing, parallel runs and post-implementation stabilisation.
• Maintain and improve payroll documentation, including process maps, standard operating procedures, controls, handover materials and country-specific payroll requirements.
• Work with payroll providers to monitor service delivery, investigate issues, track statutory updates and support continuous-improvement and automation initiatives.
• Partner with Finance, HR and Global Mobility on payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, expatriate tax-related information and payroll data requests.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to payroll colleagues, sharing knowledge, promoting consistent ways of working and contributing to a strong regional service culture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally supporting multiple countries, legal entities or regional payroll operations.
• Strong practical experience in end-to-end payroll processes, including payroll validation, reconciliations, controls, reporting and issue resolution.
• Exposure supporting payroll transformation, provider transitions, vendor consolidation, system migration or payroll operating-model changes.
• Exposure to payroll implementation or integration projects, including provider onboarding, employee data migration, testing, parallel payroll runs or go-live support.
• Experience supporting payroll activities related to M&A, new legal entities or new-country set-up would be advantageous.
• Interest in payroll automation, process improvement and systems optimization; exposure to Workday and/or Replicon is desirable.
• Good understanding of payroll compliance, audit requirements, confidentiality, data accuracy and internal controls.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, investigate discrepancies and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach, with the confidence to work with HR, Finance, Global Mobility, HRIS, local country contacts and external payroll providers.
