Position Summary
One of the region’s largest orthopedic and sports medicine providers, Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute’s world-class team of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians specialize in conditions and injuries of the spine, hand, upper extremities, foot, ankle and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement, concussions, interventional pain management, bone health and orthopedic trauma. The institute’s Downtown Complex brings the whole spectrum of orthopedic and spine care under one roof and includes an orthopedic specialty hospital featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 advanced OR suites, and a research and innovation center with a bio skills lab and 3D printer.

A Brief Overview
The Supervisor of Sports Medicine will oversee the administration, operations and assignments for the staff Athletic Trainers as well as the ATC residency program. Responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Performs diverse administrative duties, daily staff supervision, and scheduling.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE Accredited Institution or Bachelor’s in athletic training or related field 7+ years relevant experience.
- Required, 1 or more of the following: NASM-CES, NASM-PES, ISFTA-CPT, NSCA-CSCS, FMS, SFMA.
- CAATE Program Director Certificate preferred.
- Maintains current certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC).
- Maintains current license as Athletic Trainer in the State of Florida, Department of Health.
- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.

What you will do
- Oversees the acquisition and maintenance of an CAATE accredited ATC residency program.
- Develops the ATC residency curriculum.
- Hires and oversees the ATC staff for coverage and the residency program.
- Manages the ATC residents and coordinates staff placements.
- Coordinates recruiting and marketing of the residency program.
- Coordinates Educational talks and programs for the department, PRN network, and local ATC’s.
- Supervises, coordinates, and develops the athletic trainer undergraduate internship program.
- Provides staff orientation to all new support staff and residents hired.
- Provides performance review; with evaluation and goal setting for all support staff & residents underneath them.
- Maintains credentialing as a CPR instructor and performs yearly CPR courses for all dept staff and any other needed courses.
- Coordinates all CPR training events and performs the sessions when needed.
- Maintain ATC coverage records/calendars of all events assigned to the department.
- Merges ATC Coverage records with the physician tracking data to calculate partnership and event staffing expenses.
- Maintains and processes accurate Invoices for any services provided by the department.
- Tracks and submits time sheets for the department.
- Reviews and submits milage sheets for the department.
