At Genesis Minerals, we’re growing our presence across Western Australia’s Goldfields, and our Tower Hill Project is an exciting part of that journey. We’re looking for an experienced Open Pit Mine Planning Engineer to join our Technical Services team in Leonora and play a hands-on role in establishing and optimising this new operation.

The Opportunity:

As our Open Pit Mine Planning Engineer, you’ll be at the centre of the action, translating mine plans into practical, achievable schedules that support safe, productive and cost-effective mining. Working closely with Production, Geology and Survey, you’ll help drive the successful execution of the daily and weekly mining plans while adapting to the evolving demands of a new operation.

Tower Hill’s proximity to the local community and sensitive receivers adds another dimension to the role. Attention to detail, considered planning and the ability to respond proactively to changing operational conditions will be essential.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Drive short-term mine planning – develop daily and weekly plans, schedules and dig plans that support production targets and operational priorities.
• Make an impact in the field – work alongside the Production team to monitor progress, resolve constraints and keep mining activities aligned with the plan.
• Shape the operation – design and maintain mine infrastructure, including waste dumps, haul roads and access ramps, to support efficient mining.
• Enable precision mining – prepare dig designs, face maps and operator instructions to support selective mining and effective ore extraction.
• Connect planning with execution – upload and manage dig designs and surfaces on mining equipment, ensuring operators have the information they need.
• Collaborate to deliver results – lead planning discussions, establish assumptions with key stakeholders and work closely with Geology, Survey and Production to continually improve plan delivery.

What you’ll bring:

You’re an experienced Mining Engineer who enjoys being close to the operation, takes pride in producing practical plans and thrives on solving problems in a changing environment. You’re comfortable working with production teams, communicating clearly and taking ownership of the detail that makes a plan work.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Site-based open pit mining experience, preferably within gold operations.
• Strong technical capability in open pit mine design, scheduling and short-term planning.
• Proficiency in mining software such as Deswik CAD and Sched, with ShotPlus experience an advantage.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with operational data.
• The ability to communicate effectively with Production, Geology, Survey and other stakeholders.
• A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine interest in helping establish and improve a new operation.
• Power BI reporting experience will be highly regarded.
