Managing Director, Environmental Consulting

Business Unit Leader | United States

About Infinity Constellation

Professional services firms have historically grown by adding headcount: more analysts, associates, and support staff to serve more clients. Infinity Constellation is built on a different thesis. A small team, led by an outstanding credentialed practitioner and paired with an AI backbone that handles everything else, can now do what used to take dozens of people.

We are building independent, high-margin business units (BUs) inside a single company. Each unit is built around one or two core people and supported by Infinity's technology platform and our engineering and product teams, which take over HR, accounting, finance, and data-processing work. The practitioner keeps selling the same service, to the same buyers, at the same or better quality, but serves far more clients per person.

Environmental consulting is one of our three founding verticals.

The Role

We are looking for a Managing Director to found and lead Infinity's Environmental Consulting business unit. You will be the practitioner who deeply understands a specific environmental niche, holds real client relationships in it, and can define exactly what belongs on a compliant report. You will build a practice that carries meaningfully more work per person than a traditional firm, with Infinity building the tools that remove manual work from the process.

This is an entrepreneurial role with real upside: you shape the service offering, the team, and the tooling roadmap, and you share directly in the value you create.

About the Practice

Environmental consulting covers the compliance and permitting work required before, during, and after physical development, including pipelines, transmission lines, real estate, and industrial sites. It is not one discipline but many, each with its own methods and buyers: wetland and waterbody delineation, habitat and species surveys, contamination assessment, and regulatory compliance auditing.

A typical engagement begins once a client has identified a route or site. A team surveys the land, collects field data using GIS tools, and produces a report filed with local, state, and/or federal agencies. Demand is driven by regulation rather than sentiment, and the cost of noncompliance far exceeds the cost of the service.

The industry remains manual and fragmented. Reports are largely boilerplate with small jurisdiction-specific edits, yet no shared source of truth exists for what each county or agency requires, so practitioners spend real time searching and calling around. Projects also pass through chains of subcontractors, which leaves clients feeling that no one is accountable for the outcome. Infinity is building the tools, and the single point of accountability, to fix that.
