Your Opportunity
As a Construction Inspector, you’ll be the on-site eyes and ears for our Construction Manager, ensuring that water infrastructure projects are built to the highest standards. You’ll collaborate with Stantec’s project managers and design teams, as well as the client’s operations and maintenance staff, to oversee construction at active water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipeline installations, roadway upgrades, and heavy civil works. You’ll monitor contractor performance, document progress, and help resolve issues that arise in the field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, values precision, and enjoys working closely with contractors and clients to deliver impactful results.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary field inspector for water infrastructure projects
- Monitor contractor activities and prepare detailed daily reports
- Verify compliance with specifications, standards, and procedural manuals
- Communicate directly with contractors regarding conformance issues
- Identify and document potential changes to the contract scope
- Maintain master as-built and record drawing documentation
- Attend progress meetings and review schedule performance
- Assist in developing project-specific QA/QC standards and documentation
- Coordinate field testing and inspections per contract requirements
- Review and submit test reports for project turnover
- Document inspections, non-compliance notices, and corrective actions
- Track force account work and document labor, equipment, and materials used
- Review monthly contractor pay estimates for accuracy
- Prepare and manage punch lists for incomplete or deficient work
