Postdoc in electronic oxide-based quantum devices - DTU Energy

Technical University of Denmark · Kongens Lyngby

Are you passionate about experimental research in condensed matter physics, experienced in the art of clean-room fabrication, and curious about the role of topology in the characteristics of superconducting devices at ultra-low temperatures? Then maybe you are the one we are looking for!

Interfaces between complex oxides exhibit amazing and often surprising electronic phases and functionalities. The canonical example are interfaces between SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 or AlOx. Although each material is a large band-gap insulator, a metallic two-dimensional electron gas appears at the interface when they are merged in a heterostructure. This electronic system is extraordinary; it exhibits high mobility, strong spin-orbit coupling and even intrinsic superconductivity with a gate-tunable transition temperature. Importantly, the system shares key properties with semiconductors in that they are susceptible to electrostatic gating and can be processed by semiconductor processing tools.

We have an opening for a 2-year postdoc to work on fabrication and measurements of oxide based quantum devices. The main activities for the successful candidate will be clean-room device fabrication (electron beam lithography, etc.), detailed quantum transport measurements at milli-kelvin temperatures, and close interactions with material growers. Devices will be fabricated using DTU’s on-campus state-of-the-art clean-room facilities, and quantum transport measurements will be carried out in a dedicated dilution refrigerator setup at DTU Energy.
