Responsibilities
- Always adhere to safety procedures and policies.
- Ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions
- Ability to verify part quantity and perform visual inspection for defects or damage
- Punctuality
- Perform basic shop math, fractions, and decimals.
- Perform quality checks using calipers, squares, etc.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by supervisor or manager.
- Operate the Head Stretcher equipment and lead the tail Stretcher.
- Operate the extrusion press and related equipment, ensuring proper settings, dies, and billet temperatures.
- Load and unload billets, monitor extrusion speed, and inspect profiles for defects.
- Perform die changes and routine press maintenance with guidance from the press lead or supervisor.
- Complete production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Identify and escalate any Safety, mechanical or quality issues promptly.
- Give Brake to the Press Operator.
- PPE compliance is mandatory.
- Work in areas with hot materials and ambient temperatures that can exceed 100°F, especially during the summer months.
- High-paced environment with strict attention to safety, quality, and production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift
- Frequent bending, twisting, and squatting during die changes or material handling
- Must be able to work for extended hours; standing and walking for up to 10–12 hours a day
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required for handling profiles and tools
- Must be able to work in hot and noisy environments.
- No minimum education requirement; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
- .Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Machine Operator and Metal Extrusion experience
The pay for this position is $23.48. If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education, and/or experience. As a Metal Extrusion Head Stretch Operator, you will be a key member of an extrusion press team supported by 3-8 other employees and will need to directly work and lead the tail stretch operator. Adhere to quality processes including in-process inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications. Correctly interpret work orders and verify documentation. Operate the head stretch machine and become fully aware of work instructions associated with machine operations and requirements. Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions provided by the foreman. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Perform regular visual inspections to verify no defects or damage to material and to confirm that material is in compliance.
