Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching, English, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualification

A PhD in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, or a related discipline.

Experience

Applicants should have:

A minimum of three years of English language teaching experience.
Experience teaching Foundation English, intensive English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), or similar English language programs.
Experience delivering CEFR-aligned English language instruction and supporting learners with diverse English proficiency levels.
Experience in curriculum and syllabus development, assessment design, moderation, and English language assessment.
Experience preparing students for internationally recognized English language proficiency examinations, such as Cambridge English Qualifications, IELTS, or TOEFL, is highly desirable.
Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
Experience teaching in multicultural and diverse learning environments.

The Adjunct Faculty – Foundation English is responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction within the Foundation English Programme (A1, A2, and B1). The successful candidate will support students in developing English language proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and prepare them for successful progression to the next Foundation English level or into their academic programmes. The faculty member is expected to contribute to teaching, assessment, curriculum delivery, student support, and continuous quality enhancement in accordance with Sharjah Maritime Academy policies.
