The Commercial Risk Client Executive is responsible for the management and service of complex commercial accounts and operates at a strategic level to develop and retain consultative client relationships. The role evaluates exposures, educates clients on missing or newly available coverage options, leads marketplace submissions, and coordinates a multidisciplinary client team to deliver service standards and key deliverables that exceed client expectations.
Position Summary
The Commercial Risk Client Executive is responsible for the management and service of complex commercial accounts and operates at a strategic level to develop and retain consultative client relationships. The role evaluates exposures, educates clients on missing or newly available coverage options, leads marketplace submissions, and coordinates a multidisciplinary client team to deliver service standards and key deliverables that exceed client expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Acquires and retains large, complex commercial clients through a deep understanding of risk, risk mitigation, and insurance architecture, communicating that knowledge in direct alignment with client operations.
- Develops trusted partnerships with key insurance company partners and broker representatives.
- Leads internal discussions on client renewals, including coverage comparisons, pricing comparisons, historical loss experience, and projected loss picks.
- Prepares complex submissions for the marketplace, including loss picks, deductible stratification, endorsement requests, and exposure information.
- Coordinates the client team, including Account Management, Risk Mitigation, Claims Consulting, and Risk Analysts, to ensure service standards and key deliverables exceed client expectations.
- Assesses final audits to ensure accuracy between the client and insurance company partner audit teams' identification of risk.
- Applies data, analytics, and agency management systems to support renewal strategy and to maintain complete, accurate records.
- Actively builds trusting relationships with clients, insurance company partners, brokers, and the firm's advisors, partners, and leaders through personal integrity and industry expertise.
- Shares deep insurance expertise with the firm's advisors, account managers, and colleagues to advise, develop, and train.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that inspire loyalty and commitment from others.
- Ability to analyze complex risk exposures and existing insurance coverages and to develop and communicate appropriate recommendations for clients and prospects through risk mapping.
- Exceptional technical knowledge of insurance coverage, contracts, market conditions, and carrier underwriting appetites, with the ability to adjust strategy to protect future interests.
- Makes sound judgments and decisions based on objective analysis and multiple perspectives.
- Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and agency management systems; working knowledge of Sagitta preferred.
- Demonstrates the firm's core values, exhibiting behavior aligned with the firm's culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of commercial insurance experience.
- Active state insurance license(s) as required by the applicable State Department of Insurance, or the willingness and ability to obtain all required licenses within the first 90 days of employment.
- Experience reviewing, placing, and negotiating loss-sensitive casualty and workers' compensation placements, including captive structures, preferred.
- Preferred industry specialization, such as Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Transportation, Retail Trade, Real Estate, or Services.
- Designations such as CPCU, CIC, CRM, or ARM preferred.

- Client Advisory, Commercial Risk: Provides deep technical expertise on risk and exposure for complex commercial accounts.
- Carrier & Market Relations: Develops trusted carrier and broker partnerships to secure competitive terms.

- Complex Account Strategy: Leads renewal and marketplace strategy across coverage, pricing, and loss picks.
- Account Management & Stewardship: Coordinates the client team to ensure service standards and deliverables exceed expectations.
- Vertical Specialization: Applies industry-vertical depth (e.g., Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing) to tailor placements.
