Basic Job Functions: 

Responsible for implementing and sustaining First Solar EHS programs to ensure compliance with EHS regulatory standards/requirements and First Solar requirements for safe operations and environmental protection. 

Experience:     

• 4-7 years’ experience in the Environmental, Safety or Industrial Hygiene fields required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Education:

• 4 year degree in an EHS related field preferred, other degrees considered with direct EHS work experience.

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Proven EH&S skills in an industrial setting – including (but not limited to) Safety, Environment and IH
• Broad based knowledge of Safety, Environmental and Loss Prevention regulations, programs, best-practices and systems. 
• Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM)) or ability to obtain.
• Ability to negotiate and influence a variety of stakeholders including regulatory officials.
• Strong self-motivation and multitasking abilities 
• Proven problem-solving skills.
• Ability to complete key deliverables on multiple, simultaneous assignments.
• Knowledge of internal quality audit procedures (ISO and OHSAS).
• Proven communication skills.
• EH&S project management skills.
• Fluency in English and Vietnamese, spoken and written, is required.
• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Responsible to implement the EH&S Management programs in accordance with Federal, State and Local Regulations and ISO/OHSAS standards.
• Implementation of a variety of EH&S programs to ensure regulatory compliance – including Safety, Environment and IH upon superior’s assignment.
• Responsible for maintaining ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS) and OHSAS 18001 health and safety management system (HSMS); may be responsible to act as a management representative for EMS and/or HSMS.
• Responsible for supporting process to obtain applicable EHS permits as required and ensuring compliance to permit requirements. 
• Responsible for environmental and industrial hygiene monitoring and reporting. Ability to prepare graphs, charts, and statistical models from data collected.
• Participate in EH&S audits for compliance assurance and or EHS management systems 
• Ensure all EHS audits and inspections are completed and that corrective actions are tracked to closure. 
• Defines and implements corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
• Participate in formal improvement team activities. Support all departmental and organizational improvement initiatives in order to achieve business objectives.
• Takes lead role in training all new personnel hired into First Solar from Safety Programs and activities.
• Perform assessment on new tools, process and personal protection equipment and provide recommendation to management.
• Identify potential regulatory issues related to safety matters and perform risk assessment to ensure a safe working environment.

Travel:

• May travel up to 20% annually

Physical Requirements: 

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
• Will lift, push or pull up to ## Kg on an occasional basis
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
• 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on an occasional basis
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
