Online Communication Consultant

ICF NEXT is seeking an experienced Online Communication Consultant to support strategic communication activities linked to major European initiatives in the fields of STEM education, digital education, skills and artificial intelligence. In this position you will be working from one of our clients' premises.
The initiatives aim to strengthen science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, develop a stronger and more inclusive talent pipeline, increase the participation of women in STEM, and help education systems respond to rapid technological developments.
A strong focus is placed on digital and AI literacy, support to schools and educators, digital wellbeing and online safety, innovation in education, and collaboration between education, industry, policymakers and other stakeholders.
Communication and stakeholder engagement play a central role in the successful implementation of these initiatives. This includes promoting key policy messages, sharing good practices and project results, communicating funding and research opportunities, and engaging diverse stakeholder communities in cross-sectoral dialogue.
CONTRACT OBJECTIVE
The consultant will support the communication, outreach and stakeholder engagement activities associated with European policy initiatives in STEM, digital education and skills.
The role will contribute to:
- Promoting policy activities, research outputs, funding opportunities and project results.
- Translating complex policy topics into clear and engaging communications for different audiences.
- Increasing awareness and visibility of initiatives related to STEM, education, digital skills and AI.
- Engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from the education sector, public authorities, industry and the private sector.
- Supporting both online and offline communications around emerging priorities in digital education and skills.
- Providing strategic advice and operational support for stakeholder engagement activities.
TASKS / REQUIRED SERVICES
Key responsibilities will include:
Strategic communication and digital engagement
- Provide strategic advice and hands-on support for online and offline communication activities.
- Identify and recommend emerging digital communication trends, tools, channels and methodologies.
- Support the development and implementation of digital communication actions targeting stakeholders across the STEM and digital education ecosystem.
- Analyse stakeholder positions and communication needs.
- Conduct SWOT analyses and recommend appropriate strategic approaches on STEM, digital education and skills topics.
Content strategy and editorial support
- Support all stages of the content strategy lifecycle, including planning, analysis, creation, testing, review and maintenance.
- Develop digital content for websites and social media channels.
- Propose editorial concepts and approaches for different audiences and communication objectives.
- Research and compile background information and analyse policy and technical documentation.
- Write, edit, rewrite and adapt high-quality original content.
- Translate complex or technical information into accessible content for different stakeholder groups.
- Develop editorial approaches and content for social media platforms.
- Manage editorial projects and carry out quality control of communication materials.
- Monitor relevant online and print media.
Stakeholder engagement and coordination
- Participate in meetings related to implementation, communication activities and project progress.
- Draft reports, meeting summaries and other supporting documentation.
- Support working groups, expert groups, stakeholder events and other engagement activities.
- Contribute to dialogue with stakeholders from the education, public and private sectors.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to different audiences, including stakeholders, experts and visitors.
Project and administrative support
- Provide general coordination and administrative support related to the communication portfolio.
- Coordinate translation requests and support mailbox management.
- Track service requests, deliverables and ongoing tasks.
- Support document management and reporting.
- Use relevant project management, communication and administrative tools to ensure activities are delivered effectively.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of developments, trends, tools and methodologies related to digital and online communication.
- Experience with content strategy, website content and social media communication.
- Strong writing, editing and content adaptation skills.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and strategic communication.
- Knowledge of or interest in STEM, education, digital skills, AI or related policy areas would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in project, service and/or quality management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A user- and customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to work effectively within an international and multicultural environment.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership capability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
