Manufacturing Engineer

About the Role

SAIC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support a new contract focused on system production for the Department of Defense. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic production team working in a heavy fabrication and manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Production Manager and will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing methods, processes, and procedures to ensure the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture and fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies
Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools, equipment, and other functions that affect product performance
Support heavy fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly operations
Adapt machine and equipment design to factory and production conditions
Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines
Design and recommend efficient plant layout and arrangement of machines and equipment to maximize productivity
Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency and investigate and initiate corrective action for problems and deficiencies
Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control
Ensure all processes and procedures are in compliance with applicable regulations and standards
Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations including Manufacturing Bill of Materials
Contribute to the completion of project milestones and program schedules

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in Bedford, IN
Supports a Department of Defense system production contract
Fast paced heavy fabrication and manufacturing environment requiring strong attention to detail and process discipline
Collaboration with internal teams as well as regular interaction with external customers and vendors
