We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Associate, Loan Originations (Business Development) to join our commercial real estate lending platform. This position is designed for individuals who thrive on relationship-building, prospecting, and creating new business opportunities through direct outreach.The role is focused on the front end of the origination process, identifying and qualifying prospective borrowers, developing new relationships, and supporting senior originators through the early stages of transaction execution. The ideal candidate is energized by business development activities, enjoys interacting with clients, and wants to build a long-term career in commercial real estate loan origination.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with commercial real estate brokerage, mortgage brokerage, investment sales, or other sales-oriented real estate experience who are seeking a direct path into lending and loan origination.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Opportunity Sourcing
- Generate new lending opportunities through proactive outreach to commercial real estate owners, operators, sponsors, and borrowers.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective loan opportunities through phone calls, emails, networking, referrals, and market coverage.
- Identify and cultivate relationships that lead to repeat business and long-term borrower partnerships.
- Partner with the Head of Origination and senior originators to refine business development strategies, outreach campaigns, and prospecting efforts.
- Maintain detailed pipeline activity and opportunity tracking within the firm's CRM platform.
Deal Screening & Qualification
- Conduct preliminary assessments of prospective loan opportunities based on:
- Property type
- Loan size
- Leverage requirements
- Sponsorship profile
- Alignment with the firm's lending strategy
- Probability of successful CMBS execution
- Gather borrower information and supporting documentation.
- Complete loan opportunity summaries and qualification materials for internal review.
- Present qualified opportunities to senior originators and coordinate a seamless handoff into the transaction process.
Origination Support
- Support senior originators during the initial stages of transaction evaluation, quoting, and application issuance.
- Remain actively involved throughout the Deal Received, Quote Issued, and Application Issued stages of the origination process.
- Coordinate with underwriting and execution teams to facilitate efficient deal review and progression.
- Participate in borrower meetings, transaction discussions, and internal pipeline review meetings.
- Assist in maintaining visibility into active transactions and market opportunities.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other commercial real estate market participants.
- Learn from and work alongside senior originators, gaining exposure to a variety of relationship management and origination styles.
- Support ongoing client engagement efforts throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in:
- Commercial real estate brokerage
- Mortgage brokerage
- Investment sales
- Debt placement
- Business development
- Commercial real estate advisory services
- Commercial real estate lending
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in creating opportunities through direct outreach and relationship development.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience prospecting property owners, borrowers, or real estate investors.
- Success developing opportunities through outbound calling, email campaigns, networking, and relationship building.
- Comfort operating in a highly entrepreneurial and performance-oriented environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- A desire to build a career in commercial real estate loan origination.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
While financial and real estate knowledge is important, this role is designed for individuals who view themselves primarily as business developers and relationship-builders rather than pure underwriting or analytical professionals.

The annual full time base salary range for this role is
$140,000.00 - $165,000.00Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location and alignment with market data. Additionally, certain positions may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines, position eligibility and SitusAMC Senior Management approval. SitusAMC offers PTO and paid holidays, the terms of which are set forth in the program policies. All full time employees also are eligible to participate in various benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and 401K; in each case in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
