Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an individual to coordinate the implementation of Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) program within the Environmental Services Business Operating Unit in the US. The position will be based out of one of our larger offices in the US Central or South region and will report to the Business Line HSSE Manager.
This is a full-time position, and work hours will reflect the requirements of the geography.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams in the effective implementation of HSSE procedures to deliver safe projects.
- Applies practical knowledge and experience to independently solve complex HSSE problems related to areas within their operational control.
- Act as a subject matter expert to support Stantec’s remedial construction, environmental restoration, and cultural service areas.
- Work with the HSSE Manager to track and manage incidents, identify effective preventative and corrective actions, and develop and share lessons learned.
- Identify and lead process improvements in alignment with strategic goals.
- Provide coaching, advice, and direction to business line leadership on HSSE as it pertains to the services provided by the business.
- Support operations to effectively use Stantec’s HSSE systems including the HSSE program manual, OHS management system, and safe work practices, as well as local legislation.
- Provide technical assistance to project teams with pre-job planning and hazard assessments for field activities and the integration of client HSSE requirements.
- Conduct field assessments, planned job observations, and worksite inspections independently and with leadership (which may require overnight travel) in support of the Business Operating Unit.
- Promote HSSE within the area of responsibility with the goal of continuous improvement of HSSE culture.
