About the Team

The Global Supply Chain (GSC) E-commerce Fulfillment team delivers technology solutions that support fulfillment operations across the TJX network.

We are evolving our technology landscape by modernizing existing applications, strengthening engineering capabilities, and developing new solutions while continuing to support business-critical legacy applications during the transition.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to build and lead our E-commerce Fulfillment engineering capability in Hyderabad.

This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, application modernization, and operational ownership. The successful candidate will lead and develop engineers working across modern and legacy technologies, provide technical guidance across iSeries and Mainframe environments, and help drive the transition toward modern application architectures and engineering practices.

The ideal candidate will bring strong modern application engineering experience across C#, .NET, APIs, integrations, SQL, Azure, DevSecOps, automated testing, and CI/CD, along with the ability to understand and guide teams working with mature legacy platforms.

The role will working closely with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Operations, and other technology teams.

What You'll Do

Engineering & People Leadership

• Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Establish clear engineering expectations, standards, and ways of working.
• Provide technical mentoring and create opportunities for engineers to broaden their capabilities.
• Develop cross-skilling across modern and legacy technology platforms.
• Build technical depth and reduce dependency on highly specialized legacy expertise through knowledge sharing and structured development.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership & Modernization

• Provide technical leadership across modern application engineering, iSeries, Mainframe, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based solutions.
• Guide technical design and engineering decisions for E-commerce Fulfillment applications.
• Lead modernization initiatives that progressively transition legacy application capabilities toward modern engineering patterns.
• Guide teams in understanding existing application code, business logic, interfaces, dependencies, and data flows before modernizing capabilities.

• Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
• Balance modernization priorities with the need to maintain stability and continuity across critical existing applications.

Modern Engineering Practices

• Drive adoption of C#, .NET, REST APIs, Azure, modern integration patterns, and automated testing.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, Git-based development, observability, secure engineering, and deployment automation.
• Improve application reliability, production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis practices.
• Encourage automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Promote effective use of GitHub Copilot and GenAI-assisted engineering tools to improve development productivity, testing, documentation, and learning.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality and delivery practices.

Legacy Platform Leadership

• Provide technical guidance for applications operating across IBM iSeries/AS400 and Mainframe environments.
• Ensure appropriate engineering support and knowledge continuity for business-critical legacy applications.
• Guide engineers supporting legacy development, enhancements, defect resolution, and production support.
• Partner with experienced SMEs to strengthen knowledge transfer and documentation.
• Develop cross-platform engineering capability so the team can effectively operate across legacy and modern technologies.
• Identify appropriate opportunities to simplify, integrate, modernize, or progressively replace legacy functionality.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Operations, business teams, and vendors to deliver effective technology solutions.
• Translate business requirements into engineering priorities and technical solutions.
• Contribute to architecture and solution-design discussions.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, and production issues across multiple applications and technology platforms.
• Partner with stakeholders to balance modernization, engineering investment, operational stability, and business priorities.
• Provide clear technical direction while enabling engineers to take ownership of solution delivery.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience leading software engineering teams, including technical mentoring, coaching, and talent development.
• Strong modern application engineering and solution-design experience.
• Solid understanding of full-stack engineering, including C#, .NET, REST APIs, enterprise integrations, SQL, and automated testing.
• Experience with Azure-hosted applications, preferably including Azure App Service.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, source control, observability, secure engineering, and production support.
• Experience leading application development, modernization, or complex technology initiatives.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively across Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, business teams, Engineering, and vendors.
• Strong learning agility and experience leading teams working across multiple technology stacks.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with people leadership and delivery responsibilities.

• Experience with GitHub Copilot or comparable AI-assisted software engineering tools.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will establish a strong E-commerce Fulfillment engineering capability in Hyderabad, developing engineers who can operate effectively across both modern and legacy technologies.

The Engineering Manager will strengthen technical ownership of existing applications, drive cross-skilling across iSeries and Mainframe technologies, and progressively move the engineering landscape toward modern .NET, API, Azure, DevSecOps, and cloud engineering patterns.
