- Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Silver Spring, MD. Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting general accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. This role performs general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis while supporting compliance, audits, and continuous process improvement. Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Accountant will maintain and update general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are properly classified
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general ledger accounts
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- As a Staff Accountant, you will research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests
- Assist with local, state, and federal tax-related accounting activities
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency
- Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and other special accounting projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Corporate or public accounting experience preferred
- Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
- Knowledge of month-end and year-end close processes
- Understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
