We are seeking a BIM / CAD Technician with AutoCAD experience to join our growing BIM team.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting electrical construction projects through technical drafting, 3D modeling, and design coordination. The BIM / CAD Technician will create and maintain construction drawings, assist with electrical layouts, and collaborate with project teams to develop accurate, practical design solutions.
Candidates must have experience using AutoCAD and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Previous electrical or construction experience is highly valued, but experience with Revit or BIM software is not required. This position offers an opportunity to build on existing drafting skills while developing expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and construction technology.
Responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings and construction layouts using AutoCAD.
- Assist with the development of 3D models and BIM documentation for electrical construction projects.
- Support electrical detailing, including equipment placement, conduit routing, and installation layouts.
- Review construction drawings and models to identify potential design conflicts and installation challenges.
- Collaborate with BIM professionals, project managers, field personnel, and design teams to support project coordination.
- Incorporate design revisions and field requirements into construction drawings and models.
- Maintain accurate, organized drawings and project documentation.
- Develop proficiency in Revit and other BIM software through training and hands-on experience.
Qualifications:
- Previous hands-on experience using AutoCAD is required.
- Ability to read, interpret, create, and modify technical drawings and construction layouts.
- Previous experience in electrical construction, construction drafting, or technical design is preferred.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit, BIM software, or 3D modeling is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, conduit routing, equipment layouts, or construction installation methods is a plus.
- Experience with construction documents, shop drawings, or MEP coordination is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with project teams.
- Willingness to learn new software, construction technologies, and BIM processes.
